Light theme or dark theme for your blog? Which one do you prefer?
Hey, this entry I start with a simple question for you guys. Choosing a design theme for your blog sometimes can be frustrated. Why I said like that? This is because I had experience it. For me theme design is very important if we want to attract visitors. Who want to visit a blog or website that has dull design? Nobody I think but it is subjective. Some peoples like the simple design and others like the colorful design. It is all up to you to choose dark or light theme.
Look at my blog; I prefer to use simple design which has two or three colors only. I don’t like a colorful one. It makes my eyes spin when I want to find something inside. Below I briefly describe about light design and dark design.
Dark Design
- Suitable for personal blog/website
- More attractive (sometimes only)
Light Design
- Suitable for both blog (personal and business)
- Make the page clear to navigate
- Easier to read the article inside
- It match with any colors
- Sometimes can be dull (can avoid it using creativity)
I’m not asking you to choose light design (because I choose light design) but you must consider your readers. For example, if your blog readers are kid it maybe suitable for you to use dark design and colorful design for your blog because kid loves it.
Light design also can be attractive if our contents are arranged nicely. Make your readers easy to find what they want inside your blog and I’m sure your blog will be interesting. It is useless if you just having colorful, nice and bombastic design but your content worst and not arrange nicely.
My advice, either you use light or dark design; just don’t use too much color in your blog. Make it simple. It is weird if you use too much color. It is similar if you see someone dressing with colorful dress and you sure bad talking about him or her right. You must remember, visitors come to your blog to find something and not to look at your design. If you mix too much color you will crack you visitor’s head!
I’m also want you guys give comment about my blog design so that I can improve my blog and make it interesting for you. Here some question for you to give comment about my blog design.

- Should I maintain the design or change with other design?

I prefer light template. For me, dark template is suitable for personal blog only.

i love the look of the black background. it is always very dramatic when you land on the page. However, it is much harder to read.
If you are going to use a black template, always… be sure you use a larger font, to help people read what you write.
We use Wordpress for blogs and full websites. Here is an example of one we designed using the black background I think it works well to show off the pictures, but I think it is harder to read the words: http://www.selectshowhorses.com
