Don’t Ask Me To Leave Comment On Blogspot Because I Hate It

September 15, 2009 · 75 comments

I used to have a blog in blogspot platform but I already delete it. WHY? Because I hate it so much. Damn so much! Using blogspot platform limit my creativity. Not so much things I can do with blogspot. Trust me if you want to extend your talent on blogging, designing, web building don’t use blogpsot platform! It sucks. If you have intention to make money online also don’t use blogspot. Buy your own domain and web hosting and build your wordpress blog from scratch like I did.

Emotional huh? Actually I’m not but I hate people ask me to leave comment on blogspot. I hate the comment section style in blogspot. There are 4 types of choice to comment. Either, you use google id, OpenID, Name/URL or anonymous. Usually, bloggers disable the NAME/URL option. So how can we as a self hosted blog want to leave a comment? You tell me. We want to leave comment on the blog that give benefits to us right. If we can’t leave a comment with linkback to our blog, why should we do? So don’t ask me again to leave comment in your blog.

Commenting is like hell – I know, it’s a anti-spam measurement, but it’s really not handy. It totally sucks when you need to enter those words before you can  leave a comment. And not to forget the options given below if you’d like to leave a comment with Open ID, Name and URL and whatsoever

That is the main reason I hate blogspot. Not enough? Here I list ANOTHER REASONS why I hate blogspot and you should too

  • Themes – Most of the bloggers use the same theme! Every three to five blogs I entered using the same theme and make it more suck is the themes are copycat from wordpress theme. If they want to feel the wordpress theme use wordpress.org!
  • SEO zero – Blogspot is unfriendly in terms of Search Engine Optimization. As we wordpress user, we can use all in one SEO plugin to make our blog SEO friendly. What SEO plugin that available for blogspot? If you know please tell me so
  • Slow, stupid and limited support – Unlike wordpress, we have a AWESOME WORDPRESS SUPPORT FORUM
  • Permalinks structure sucks – Do you really think that adding a .html at the end will make it more search engine friendly? I don’t think so
  • And last but not least – Most of blogspot users wrote only about their sucks personal stories. Even they want to pee also they wrote in their blog. What the hell.

Are you a wordpress user or a blogpsot user? Tell me about your experience with your blog platform because I already told you my reasons..

Lets the debate begin!

Commenting can be improved with “embedded comment form”(which, strangely, retains all those pop-ups using Ajax! And on top of that, it does not work with many browsers.

Blogger is not that bad platform but once people start using WordPress, it’s hard to use Blogger again. I shifted to WP in December last year and have not even commented on a blogger blog after that!

Een Rockstar September 15, 2009 at 10:45 am

Blogger should know this..wordpress is much much better than blogspot. What you’re saying is true. I also shifted to WP after 2 DAYS using blogspot. I don’t have full control to my own blog when using blogspot. It’s not challenging at all. Since I shifted to WP, I just be a silent reader for blogspot..No more comment on blogspot. The one thing I hate most is, people ask me how to make money blogging but they want to use blogspot platform. Hello..if they want to make money blogging please be serious.

It will be much easier if blogsppot blogger will implement Disqus or Intense debate commenting system. Will make our work easier to comment.

I dislike blogspot but I don’t hate it, and yeah, I especially dislike the comment system. Hehe.

I suggest beginner bloggers use blogspot first to see how they like blogging. Then, switch to wordpress self-hosted if they like it. Because if they start a self hosted blog but don’t blog, then it’s a waste of money.

Haaahaa this is a great post. I loved your humour and the way you expressed yourself so clearly.

I tested out Blogspot for one month to see what it was like, but it didn’t give me anything. I felt there was too much going on in the admin panel, meaning it was too fidgety.

Like you I wondered about the commenting options, but I suppose it works in that setting and the way it was created. I think the fact that it has set posting criteria like open id and that the user regulates who comments can have it’s toll, as you know if you don’t have an open id or any other specified account, you can’t post. Then there is the thing of registering just for the sake of posting, it can annoy a person, but then if your anticipating the wait it can be worth it if you know you will use it.

I think perhaps the best way to address this situation would be to make blogspot users more aware of such issues, especially if it has to do with attracting new potential readers.

Good post again, and thank you for dropping by my site and leaving a comment.

Much appreciated. :D

Well personally I think the article is too harsh for blogspot users. I mean blogspot’s features are really outdated and annoying. I don’t feel convenient with its commenting system and stuffs but I think its a great tool especially if one is not really intending to monetize his blog. You mentioned most blogspot bloggers just post about personal ramblings. That’s because that’s just really what they intend it to be, an online diary…

Reply

All the wordpress.org blogs are identical as well…….
If you want to monetize your blogs, wordpress is definitely better because it is ads friendly and you can include many blogs in it.
In the other hand, since blogspot is own by Google, it is just nice to add in Adsense ads, if you want more, sorry, not much room for you.

As you said about SEO, well I have gain PR3 on my blogspot blog. Alan Liew is one blogger that earning high only by using blogspot blog.

Some blogspot users just limit the comment system so that it would only accept google ID. But for those without name&url option but still provide openID option it still easy to comment. Just register for openID and start to use it.

There are some good blog like orangette.blogspot.com still using blogspot as blogging platform. Maybe they just love the simplicity of blogspot.

Blogspot is a simple blogging platform if they not pasting all kinds of unnecessary java script and embed mp3 songs.

It also good for beginner to start with blogspot to familiriaze with blogsphere. Perhaps after they are quite confident they could easily upgrade to wordpress.

Anyway I love WP.
I think instead of comparing blogspot and wordpress, perhaps we should discuss which platform is better whether it is wordpress, typad or joomla?

Because that sucks. Google biffed this one big time.

Fazreen , Mel type dalam bahasa boleh ? haha

Sorry mel lembab english .

Sebab kita pernah menggunakannya dan still menggunakannya .

Blogspot sebenarnya banyak mengajar dari pelbagai aspek .
1 . HTML CSS JAVASCRIPT iaitu kalau kita ingin mempelajari memasukan apa saja dalam blogspot , tetapi wordpress hanya plug and play . Am i right ?

3. Blogspot memang selalu citer pasal personal coz FREE :) dan kalau wordpress Self Host – Kita bayar dan kita perlu gunakan sebaik mungkin . Am i right ?

Neway nice to know you een !

Thanks Melz for participating in this entry.

1) I don’t think blogspot teach us so much about coding. CSS and HTML is the basic coding. Anyone can do it. How about PHP? Blogspot doesn’t have it. Wordpress is not only plug and play. Simple example are placing a google analytics code and google webmaster code which we need to digg into theme file. I bet not many blogger from blogspot know about these two main code especially google webmaster. what’s more? you will know later as you have also wp blog :)

2) This one is totally wrong. How many blogspot bloggers optimize their blog? just 1% I think. but you can see almost all wp self-hosted bloggers work hard to build backlink and raise their blog rank though wp has built in pinging function.

3) Not so really. I have personal blog also on wp self-hosted check it out http://www.fazreen.me and don’t forget to visit first Malaysia twitter blog http://www.tweet-a-holic.com :)

cheers!

I agree that wordpress is much better than blogger, but the way you put it is too harsh. A blogspot blog can also be made better in terms of design and with some tweaking around with your html you can have it seo optimized too. http://www.bloggerbuster.com/ a PR6 blog is a good example of this.

Blogspot platform is good for those who can’t invest a lot during their initial days of blogging.

I also use blogspot platform, and no i don’t write about personal stuff. Infact I now have two blogs on blogspot platform- http://www.Blogspotknol.com and http://www.knowledgehub.co.in, and I intend to use that platform as long as I don’t start monetizing my blog.

Reply

Anshul Dixit June 3, 2010 at 11:31 am

Ohh I forgot to ask– Please comment on both the blogs I mentioned :P . The comment style may not be better than wordpress, but you have the option of using Name/URL in my blog, with no captcha to irritate you. After all shouldn’t top bloggers appreciate/criticize newbie bloggers irrespective of their blogging platform ?
