Why John Chow Suck

by Fazreen on May 1, 2010

I believe, most blogger have been reading John Chow’s blog. Who the heck is he? He claimed to be a dot com mogul who made $40000 per month from his blog. I’m sure everyone wondering why I come out with that suck title. I have no problem with John Chow, I just think he is a suck blogger who knows how to scamming innocent people out of their hard earned money, nowadays.

This post might be taking John and his fan base down. Who cares? I don’t think John will cares on this but his fan probably angry with me. They should know the devil side of John although he is good in marketing. I have stopped reading John Chow’s blog regularly.

I used to be a beginner just like others and read his blog, leave comments and have a dream to be like him because John Chow brand is quite popular in make money online niche. But nowadays, I have stopped reading John Chow’s blog. To John Chow, this is a bad news for you as you have lost one good subscriber. I don’t think you care about that because you have huge number of subscribers.

Why I stop reading John Chow’s blog?

This is not because there are no quality posts. I admit, he is genius in marketing and sometimes his post is useful but I was driven away.

Yeah, I was driven away…

I subscribed to his newsletter/mailing list just to be alert about his new blog post or other blogging tips from him. But nowadays, it is hard to get blogging tips from him. The only things I receive in my inbox is about promoting products and systems to make money online. I have a question…how many systems or products do we need to make money? Everytime he send a newsletter is all about promoting which is he putting his affiliate links on it. That’s why I said earlier that he only knows to scam innocent people in order for him to make $40000 per month. Even worst, his blog post nowadays full with products reviews which are paid reviews post.

It’s hard to find quality contents in his blog nowadays. As you click over to his blog, you will see a clutter of advertisement. I know he make money from his blog from a lot of advertisement but he shouldn’t drive his readers away. He is greedy.

My Two Cents

While we need to always be thinking about making money from our blogs, we cannot forsake the comfort of our readers.

Do you still read his blog? How do you find the quality of his blog content nowadays? Does it help you improve your blogging skills? Answer me..

I’m not following John Chow so I can’t say anything about his quality but this is a common problem in the MMO-nisch. It’s basically the same information floating around in new packages.

1) Find your passion
2) Create a site
3) Work hard
4) Make money

Sure there are probably one or two new tips in most products but it’s not worth the money. According to me, all the information you need is available online for free if you just spend a few minutes searching for it.

Hi, Stefan
Yeah that’s right. People tend to go for short cut in order to make money. If you have much time, you could find the information everywhere. I’m not saying all the product information is bad but half of them are edited version that we have usually seen around the internet. By the way thanks for your though. :)

I think I only hit his blog link once and that too via search engine. I never found an interest on his article because I don’t like such type of blogs where they claim they earn this and that and if we buy that we can do the same. If they earning from their scheme why they willing to sell it and want to produce more competitor!

They are actually making money by scamming innocent people to by their product. They are smart and bad guy at the same time.

I don’t go to his blog simply because of all those annoying advertisements. Even his blog introduces some advertisements before I can see the content. It takes too long to load, too. So, I just skipped it.

Fazreen May 6, 2010 at 1:24 am

Yeah, his blog loading time is too high. he don’t know nothing how to make a better blog. The only thing he know is to make money.

I can’t deny it, sometimes, he write an excellent post that teach people step by step to follow his footstep. But he is not consistent to give value articles for his readers.

Hi Fazreen,
I don’t know John Chow’s blog that well but you definitely have a point there. I agree with you that maintaining the right ratio of ads/content is something crucial even when your blog is that popular.
A successful blogger should not forget his starting point, and the fact that readers are more important than making a few extra bucks.

Fazreen May 6, 2010 at 1:35 am

The good blogger should provide value in his blog post to his readers and visitors. we should maintain the relationship between us and blog readers by giving them something that worth to read. The good example is Darren and Chris Brogan. They are damn so good in writing blog posts while making handsome bucks per month.

tak kenal pun. tapi aku tahu nama mamat tu dan blog dia. Eleh, dia pun tak kenal aku. Haha..

apapun, kekadang aku lawat gak blog dia. Cari sumber ilmu yang mungkin kekadang tak jumpa kat blog lain. Dia ada style tersendiri. Ada keunikan yg lain banding blogger-blogger. Sekurang-kurangnya, dia ada nilai untuk dikomersilkan. Tu pasal banyak company suruh dia wat review. Harga 1 review aje dah berapa ribu dollar. Itu belum lagi cerita bab akaun twitter dia. 1 tweet aje..leh dapat 1k dollar selamba bodoh aje..

Bagi aku, dia ada pakej untuk dijual dan dia faham apa yang dia nak jual. Orang kita, tahu nak duit cepat aje. Diorang tak faham. Tu pasal takde benda nak dijual..

The only blogs in marketing that I followed is Rajakamil.biz and Rajakamil.com. I like his simple practical ideas.

Used to read JohnChow.com but not to follow him.. the information are not relevant to me.

Local IM don’t share their experience too much. That’s why I prefer to read international IM. They are not selfish.

i agree with you. John Chow is not relevant to people who wanted to learn make money online anymore.

i agree with you..it seems to be the problem with matured bloggers…they forget what got them there and start pitching every affiliate product to their subscribers..it is just a matter of time people will run off when they realize they are being milked out of their cash…

I have been thinking of that for a long time because well back in the days when Agloco was popular, remember that, John Chow was really hammering it and then nothing ever happened with Agloco. I was doing paid to clicks then and John Chow was someone who was dominating the spheres. When I got into blogging, I found him again but he didn’t appealed to me as a blogger to mentor me on how to make money online.

You’re right in that finding someone who gives you value is worth more than the money they’re making. It’s nice to know and be inspired but in the long run, it’s not about you. That’s just John Chow. You take it or leave it. While he is an entertainer, I’ll give him that, he’s not really a great teacher.

Thanks for the conversation,
Thu

I am a newbie so I tend to read a lot from anyone out there. It is true that nowadays internet marketers are promoting products and links than writing quality contents.

I try to keep open minded. Learning is a continuing process. If they are not worthy, they are forever blacklisted.

I visit his blog but I rarely read his article, I leave comment genuinely and hope to get some traffic from there to my blog or new site, lol! I strongly agree with your statement about his marketing strategies, he used to write paid post on his blog, newsletter just to promote his product or affiliate link and etc. I believe that he has been stopped writing about make money online tips himself for quite a few months, most of the blogging tips are guest posts. Anyway, not everyone likes John. I’m in the middle line. ;)

Regards,
Lee

I only read one of his post. I find it interesting that is why I subscribe but I noticed that he is into just making money, not making friends. I for one wants to earn money but I want also to gain friends. Build a community of online friends.

You’re right about Mr Chow. He rarely passes on any quality blogging tips as he’s so obsessed with promotion. And he’s such a show off – all about his fabulous life style all the time. But he’s not the only one Yaro Starak of entrepreneurs journey is just the same. Another superstar blogger whose only concerns are selling you his products and those of his mates.

you sir, you were right about that. i subscribed to his newsletter once before coz i thought he gonna give more value, but what i get is pitch pitch and promotion to affiliate product that i know nothing about.
